<reviewbody>A true masterpiece that even at 90 years old is still better than many of todays movies.

I recently downloaded and edited this film thinking it was PD, removed the subtitles, added voice overs and sound FX, but after putting up a few excerpts it got flagged on Youtube as matching 3rd party content, as though it is under copyright.
Any advice as to where i can obtain a legal copy or who has the original masters ? IMDB says Paramount but it is all kind of grey.
 Update April 26 2010 - Thanks Eastside !

<reviewbody>This movie is definitely in the public domain and a number of websites will attest to this. YouTube was confusing this version with another version under copyright.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>I ahve yet to see this movie, but reading the coments i got interested in that version silentguy said he did... Its an idea that has been in my head for some time, to "rework" the public domain silent movies into creative commons licensed movies with sound effects and either subtitles (instead of the dialogues being shown in cutouts) or have someone voicing over... Wonder what it would be!
I will download it now and maybe give a review later.
Anway, would love to see the reowkred version that you did, SilentGuy ;D</reviewbody>
<reviewtitle>Why not add your version silentguy?</reviewtitle>
